TAX PAYMENT UPDATE

In response to Governor Phil Murphy  Executive Order 130, issued on April 28, 2020, authorizing local units to extend the second property tax payment installment grace period through June 1, 2020 Township Council held a Special Emergency Meeting on May 4, 2020 to approve resolution 2020-05-02  extending the tax payment grace period for the 2020 2nd quarter taxes from May 10, 2020 to June 1, 2020.  Please be advised that this extension applies to the GRACE PERIOD ONLY and the due date for the 2020 2nd Quarter taxes remains May 1, 2020.    What this means to the residents is that any payments for the 2020 2nd quarter property taxes received by the close of business (4 P.M.) on Monday, June 1, 2020 will not be charged interest .  For all payments received after 4 P.M. on June 1, 2020 interest will be charged dating back to the May 1, 2020 due date.  Any interest on prior past due quarters is not affected in any way by this Resolution.

TOWNSHIP SERVICES DURING COVID-19

 

MUNICIPAL BUILDING:

The building is currently closed to the public.  All offices are working to continue services but there could be some delays in services such as building inspections, etc.  There is a drop box available to leave tax payments, building permits, zoning applications, etc.  We will work to process and notify you if there are any issues with your submissions.  There are some changes to trash collection services that are updated under the TRASH/RECYCLING tab.  Please review.

 

TOWNSHIP COUNCIL AND BOARD MEETINGS:

All meetings are being held electronically at this time.  There will be no in person meetings scheduled.  Public is still invited to participate either by electronic means or telephone at all meetings that would normally be open to the public.  Information as to how to participate will be posted on the website as the meetings occur.   All Zoning and Planning Board applications will be posted under the document tab for review by the public prior to any meetings. 

 

TOWNSHIP PARKS AND RECREATION:

All recreational team sports are cancelled at this time for both practice and games.  The parks are open at this time for use of the walking/bike paths.  The playgorounds, basketball courts and any other place for group play or activity are closed.  While the walking and bikepaths are open we do ask that you comply with the social distancing guidelines as recommended by the CDC and remain six feet apart and not gather with a number of people in one area. 

 

TAX PAYMENTS:

Currently there is no change to the May tax quarter.  Payments remain due on May 1, 2020 with a 10 day grace period.  Payments can be made by mail, use of the drop box in front of the municipal building or online.  Please see the Tax Collector's tab under Departments for more information on May quarter taxes.

 

JUNE 2, 2020 PRIMARY ELECTION

Pursuant to the Governor's Executive Order 120 the June 2, 2020 primary election date has been changed to July 7, 2020.  Other dates for voter registration, party affiliation etc. may also be effected by this change.  Please review the Executive Order below for additional information.

ENDEAVOR AND AMERICA SQUAD EMS:

As you already know our emergency responders such as EMS providers are struggling with response due to the COVID-19 virus.  Many EMS squads are struggling to get the proper PPD and equipment needed to protect themselves and the public during this crisis.   The have provided a list of items they could used donated and as always cash donations would be welcome as staffing increases, equipment purchases, etc. will no doubt take a toll on their budget projections this year.   Addresses for both EMS squads that serve Springfield Township if you wish to make donations:

ANNUAL FARM FAIR

Due to the COVID-19 virus the 2020 Burlington County Farm Fair scheduled for July 14-19, 2020 will be cancelled.

TRASH COLLECTION

There will be no change to the trash collection for the Memorial Day Holiday all trash collection will be the same as usual. 

MEMORIAL DAY CEREMONY

The Memorial Day Ceremony scheduled for May 25, 2020 is postponed until Monday, September 7, 2020 at 10:00 AM.
